the problem
LCS needed a consistent weekly content presence on Instagram and TikTok to promote events, workshops, and club activity to a Laurier CS student audience: Gen Z, already fluent in tech and internet culture. That meant owning the whole pipeline, not just pointing a camera at things.
the approach
Owned the full pipeline end to end: coming up with concepts, planning them against the academic calendar, directing and filming on-camera segments like student interviews and event walkthroughs, editing, and posting. Matched the content to the audience, relatable humour over formal announcements, student interviews over press-release-style posts, across a few different formats: event promos (midterm review sessions, welcome events), event recaps (Meet the Professionals), community and fun content (student interviews, seasonal posts), and exam season encouragement. Coordinated posting through a shared content calendar with the rest of the marketing team.
how it happened
Came up with concepts and pitched formats, then planned them against the academic calendar: workshops, events, exam periods
Directed and filmed segments, including student interviews and on-camera talent
Edited short-form reels across formats: event promos, recaps, student-facing humour, and seasonal posts
Managed the posting schedule across Instagram and TikTok
Followed basic performance metrics to understand what resonated: interactive and community-style content consistently led
